Brushing & Combing
In the past few years, I was not aware with the differences between hair brushing and combing, because I always thought they were the same thing (especially Chinese, because we generally call every brush and comb a “shu zi”). Eventually, I’ve noticed that they are definitely not similar and it is quite important for us to understand the purpose of both methods, in terms to reduce the damage of our hair and scalp.
Besides our usual shampoo and conditioner, another two very essential tools to ensure a tame mane are the hairbrush and comb *tada*. Perhaps you may just like me, which is not sure of the differences between brushing and combing because both methods will achieve the same goals at the end, which are mainly to release tangles and smoothen your tresses. However, there are some fundamental differences that we need to take note when choosing the right tool to use.
I have both hairbrush and comb with me. Maybe I should recognize that there are three methods instead, because I assuming that girls will use their fingers to eliminate tangles while they applying the conditioner during washing, so we could manage our hair easier while drying. After hair wash and dry out a little by towel, I will use a comb rather than a hairbrush to remove tangles, it helps to avoid unnecessary breakage and always start from the ends. I will only use a hairbrush right after all the major tangles have been detangled. Brushing, on the other hand is done to massage the scalp to enhance the circulation and stimulate the release of natural oils of the scalp. These are essential in terms to retain a healthy scalp too!
Hope you may gain slightly better perception about brushing and combing in this sharing. Treating your hair and scalp nicely and tenderly by using the right tools, they are crucial in hair management before you go for expensive treatments!
