Solid Shampoo Bars Are The Next Big Thing
For all our lives, we’ve always believed that shampoos come in liquid form. However, that’s fast changing. There’s a new shampoo format in town and it’s the shampoo bar. Among the first brands to sell this solid shampoo is Lush. There are several other artisanal soap makers who are trying to produce their own shampoo bars too.

Lush’s shampoo bars are meant to be portable so that they can be carried around when you travel. They’re also said to last longer than one or two bottles of shampoo.
How Are Solid Shampoo Bars Made?
Shampoo Bars from Lush have the same ingredients with artisanal liquid shampoos. They’re rich in natural essential oils and cleansing elements like sodium lauryl sulfate. However, the difference is that shampoo bars are solidified with glycerin and agar, both of which are edible and safe solidifying agents.
How Safe are They?
Although solid shampoo bars are new, their ingredients aren’t all that surprisingly modern. Instead, shampoo bars, at least the ones by Lush, seem to use a lot of natural colorings, scents, extracts, oils and the like from fruits, flowers, and vegetables. There aren’t all that much preservatives either.
Is it Just a Fad?
I really hope it’s not. Shampoo bars are really much more environmentally friendly because they’re not packaged in plastic bottles. They resemble soap bars that you can place directly on a soap holder at home, or pack into any container if you’re traveling.
I haven’t tried a shampoo bar yet, but I’m really excited and will let you all know if and when I pick up and use one of Lush’s shampoo bars.
