Don’t Let The Hot Weather Get Your Hair Down
So we’ve been having some really hot weather lately, and by that, I mean really extreme heat.
According to the people at the meteorological department, we’re transitioning into the monsoon season. It doesn’t really feel like that. If you’re out and about and feeling the heat, this can be bad. You’re sweaty and grumpy, but more importantly, your hair feels brittle and limp from the sweat. Plus it gets super itchy throughout the day.
Here’s what you can do to minimize the effects of the heat on your hair:
Use UV Protection Conditioner
Apparently, this is a thing you can get at the store. Many haircare brands carry conditioners with SPF. This type of conditioners are really useful for making sure your hair stays protected from any harmful rays from scalp to the tip. These conditioners will also ensure that your hair stays moisturized and won’t be frizzy.
Use Shampoo with Lime Extract
If you can’t find one of these, easy. Just get about a quarter cup of lime juice and add about an equal amount of water to it. Spread it all over your scalp at the end of a long day. After that, shampoo as usual. Lime juice and lime extract have special properties of being able to remove sebum and oil from your hair roots, cleaning them deeply and ensuring no itchiness or irritation develops.
Avoid Heating your Hair
Constant hot weather can make your hair thin and brittle. You don’t want to overly stress it out. So during the extremely hot months here, try to air-dry your hair as much as possible. Stay away from blow drying and steaming your hair, at least until the weather gets a little cooler.
You can also protect your hair with a hat or scarf when you’re outdoors for long hours. Just be sure to wash out your hair afterward. Cheers folks!
