How Do You Take Care of Your Hair While Traveling?
The many long weekends this year are a blessing. It means that those of us that love traveling get a chance to venture out and have a good break. However, there’s one thing that often bothers me when I travel and that’s my hair. I always want to travel light and therefore cannot pack as many hair care products as I would like.
How do we keep our hair healthy and shiny when we travel, with as little products as possible? Here are some useful tips from my own experience:
Don’t Turn the Air-Conditioning Too Low
If you’re staying in a hotel, don’t sleep in air-conditioning that’s colder than 18 degrees Celsius. The colder the air in your hotel room, the drier it is. Cold air will make your hair feel brittle and thin. If you sleep in a hotel room, make sure the air-cond is set for 20 degrees as above.
Don’t Wash Your Hair with Hot Water
Traveling may involve a lot of walking and therefore you’re bound to accumulate a lot of sweat and dust in our hair. Try and wash it daily with shampoo, but don’t rinse your hair with hot water from the shower. Hot water tends to stress out your hair, so stick with lukewarm or cool water.
Rinse Your Hair Immediately After a Swim
Whether you’re going for a dip in seawater, the hotel pool or a waterfall, you should try and rinse your hair with clean water as soon as possible. This will avoid your hair getting damaged by chlorine, salt or other impurities. Hair that’s left unwashed after a swim can become dry and tangle up easily.
Just a few simple steps can keep your hair healthy when you’re far away from home. Hope you can take some of these tips when you’re on holiday.
